Chronic Kidney Disease Diets for Cats

Here is an article regarding chronic kidney disease in cats and dogs:
Here is a list of kidney prescription diet recommendations- preferred canned food but dry is okay, for any of the listed diets
If your pet doesn't like these ones, I recommend trying the "early support/care" labelled kidney diets also. They may be more palatable than the regular kidney diets that are listed solely as k/d, NF, or Renal support.
There are multiple flavors and types, we may need to try different brands to see what your pet will eat for us.
If you wanted to try offering a sample of a kidney diet to your pet before purchasing a large quantity, you can always pick up a can of k/d here at the hospital. Slowly transition between your pet 's current diet to the kidney diet over 3-5 days in order to avoid causing any GI upset, like vomiting or diarrhea.
The easiest way to purchase one of these diets is online or picking up from the hospital. Otherwise you'll need a digital prescription for in-store pick up like at petco or petsmart if they keep them in stock.
